The academy offers the ‘foundations of Dialogical Self Theory’ for those who would like to learn more about this inspiring and influential theory, including its practical and methodological implications.
Characteristic of this course is that the theoretical foundation is broad but is illustrated by three very concrete methods (Expressive writing, Composition Work, and Determining Cultural Positions), which participants can apply directly. The trainers strive to bring theory and practice close together. You will gain insights and practical skills.
Four teachers will provide this course: Hubert Hermans, Annerieke Oosterwegel, and Agnieszka Konopka.
This course will be offered in English and/or Dutch. The first day is on 20 October 2018 in Milsbeek, Netherlands, Gagelveld 34. The other day will be determined together with the participants.

COMPOSITIONWORK COMPOSITION WORK is an artistic and theoretically founded method and was inspired by the philosophy of Japanese gardens and Dialogical Self Theory. The power of this method lies in the combination of verbal and non-verbal ways of working. The client makes her or his own composition with the help of stones of varying sizes, colour, form and tactile qualities. This method is especially suited to penetrate to the emotional aspects within the self, whereby the emotional meaning of important others can also be explored. The making of a composition along these lines forms the foundation for the making of decisions in the area of work and social relationships.
Agnieszka Konopka and Wim van Beers will provide the course; they both have much practical experience with the method and have worked with diverse groups nationally and internationally give the course. Hubert Hermans will provide the accompanying theory with the intention to connect the Composition method with the foundations of the Dialogical Self theory, including the foundational literature.
The first course day takes place in Milsbeek on 5 September 2018. The next two days are planned in conversation with participants. The language of instruction is English and/or Dutch. For more info, see this DOCUMENT.

The training in dialogical leaderhip is based on the assumption that leaders in our society develop a position repertoire that is broad and diverse enough to to give a response to a diversity of situations. The nature of the situation challenge leaders to position and reposition themselves in flexible ways as 'entrepreneur', 'manager', 'coach' or 'professional'. The requires them not only to develop multivoiced and flexible leadership, but also the capacity to create dialogical relationships between those positions. Realizing such a dialogue makes that positions may learn from each other. This happens in a double sense: to the inside in the form of dialogical self-reflection and to the outsie in the form of generating new meanings in the relationship with colleagues, co-workers, partners, family and friends. The training program aims to apply dialogical leadership in a diversity of situations in which internal and external dialogues influence each other in fertile ways.
Leader of the training is Rens van Loon, who works a professor of 'dialogical leadership' at Tilburg University. He combines theoretical insight with practical applications.
Het gives this training together with Angel Buster.
The first day of the training is on 13 September, 2018, and takes place in Villa Klein Heumen, Netherlands.

WRITING, in particular when it is creative and expressive, helps to provide meaning and direction based on the deeper layers in oneself and is also health promoting. Writing is a source of pleasure, connection and satisfaction. As has been shown by more than 100 studies, expressive writing is not only good for one’s sense of well-being and in processing negative experiences, but is also good for one’s physical health – it positively influences the workings of one’s immune system. A course in expressive and creative writing is offered by Reinekke Lengelle, who earned her PhD in this area and has 20 years of experience teaching this method in stimulating the development of the dialogical self. This course is also suited for people who would like to take on writing projects but notice they are blocked or are having trouble keeping their commitment to writing. Writing as a learning process is also at the foundation of writing as a way to create and complete written products.
This online course is 8 weeks in duration. It begins 5 March, 2018. The language of instruction is English and/or Dutch. Login information will be made available after registration. As this course is online, it can be taken by anyone anywhere – it is not dependent on a physical location or time zone.
PERSONAL EMOTIONAL ACCOUNT OF CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
The course is given by Jutta König is entitled “Personal Emotional Account of Cultural Experience" (PEACE). It is a method applied to people who have spent longer periods in different cultures. They have experienced that every culture has its own norms, values, rules and way of life. These cultures leave different traces in the self and are called ‘cultural I-positions’. In her practice Jutta has experienced that it can be clarifying to build dialogical relationships between these various cultural I-positions. She has also found indications that the dialogical movements between the positions add innovative elements to the self. This method also contributes to the integration of cultures in the self that would otherwise be too separate from one another.
Jutta gives this course herself. It takes place in Loosdrecht 19 and 26 March, 2018 (subscribe before 10 March) or on 5, 12, 19 November, 2018 (subscribe before 25 October). The language is in English and/or Dutch depending on preference.
